This Privacy Policy describes how SIMO ("Step Into My Office") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you use the Platform. By using SIMO, you consent to these practices. The Platform is intended for users in the United States.
2.1 Information We Collect
Account information
- Full name, username, email address, phone number, optional profile photo, and professional background and interests.
Mentor verification information
- For identity and payment purposes we collect ID and bank/payment information. A "verified" label reflects only that this information was submitted; it does not confirm a Mentor's role, enrollment, or credentials. We do not interview or screen Mentors. Identity and payment documents can be sensitive and are access-restricted and retained only as long as reasonably necessary (see 2.6).
Location information
- Approximate or, if you enable it, more precise location; IP address; and device location data, used for matching and session verification. You may disable location services, though some features may not function.
Payment information
- Payments are processed by third-party providers; SIMO does not directly store full card or bank-account numbers. Providers may process card/bank details, billing address, and transaction history, and are responsible for PCI-DSS compliance.
Communications
- Messages between users and session metadata such as timestamps and duration. SIMO does not record session audio or video. SIMO may store and review messages and metadata to enforce policies, investigate complaints, prevent fraud, and comply with law.
Device & usage data
- Device type, operating system, app usage, log files, and crash reports.
2.2 How We Use Information
To create and manage accounts; verify Mentor status; facilitate matching, messaging, and sessions; process payments and payouts; verify sessions; detect and prevent fraud; enforce our Terms; improve the Platform; and comply with legal obligations.
2.3 Google Sign-In and Google Calendar
SIMO offers optional Google Sign-In and Google Calendar features. SIMO's access to, use of, and transfer of information received from Google APIs adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google Sign-In
- If you sign in with Google, SIMO receives basic Google profile information — your name, email address, and profile picture — only to create and authenticate your SIMO account. SIMO never receives or stores your Google password.
Google Calendar
- Scope requested: SIMO requests only the limited "calendar.events" scope (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events), which permits creating calendar events. SIMO does not request access to view or manage your full calendar.
- How it is used: SIMO uses this access solely to add events you initiate — specifically, to place a SIMO session you book onto your Google Calendar.
- What SIMO does not do: SIMO does not read, retrieve, store, analyze, import, or display your existing Google Calendar events or other calendar data. SIMO does not access any calendar information beyond writing the booking events you create through the app.
- Revocation: you may disconnect SIMO's Google access at any time in your Google Account permissions settings (myaccount.google.com/permissions), which stops all future calendar writes.
Limited Use commitment
SIMO uses Google user data only to provide and improve the features described above.
SIMO does not sell Google user data and does not use it for advertising.
SIMO does not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide these features, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition, consistent with the Google API Services User Data Policy.
SIMO does not allow humans to read Google user data unless you give affirmative consent for specific data, it is necessary for security or to comply with law, or the data is aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.
2.4 How We Share Information
We do NOT sell personal information.
- With other users: limited profile information needed to facilitate matching and bookings.
- With service providers: payment processors, hosting/cloud, authentication, and analytics vendors, under contracts limiting their use of the data.
- For legal reasons: to comply with law or legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
- In a business transfer: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
2.5 Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit, reliance on PCI-compliant payment processors, and restricted access controls. No system can guarantee absolute security.
2.6 Data Retention
We retain personal information as long as necessary to provide the Platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information by contacting support.simocollective@gmail.com, subject to legal retention requirements.
2.7 Verification Documents
Verification documents are used only to confirm Mentor eligibility, stored in access-controlled systems, and deleted or de-identified once no longer reasonably needed for verification and trust-and-safety records.
2.8 Age Restriction
SIMO is intended for users 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 and will delete such information if discovered.
2.9 United States Users
The Platform is operated in the United States. By using SIMO, you consent to the processing and storage of your information in the United States.
2.10 Changes
We may modify this Policy and will post the revised version with a new Effective Date. Material changes will be communicated as required by law. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
2.11 Contact
Privacy questions: support.simocollective@gmail.com.
3. Revenue, Payout & Refund Policy
Effective Date: February 12, 2026. This Policy explains how session prices, platform fees, payment-processing fees, payouts, and refunds are calculated. It is incorporated into the Terms of Service. Example figures use a $100 session for illustration; actual amounts vary by Mentor price.
3.1 Pricing Structure (Example)
| Session price (Mentor fee) | $100.00 |
|---|---|
| Platform fee (10% of Mentor fee) | $10.00 |
| Payment-processing fee (approx. 2.9% + $0.30, charged on top so the Mentor fee is received in full) | $3.30 |
| Total charged to Mentee | $103.30 |
Processing-fee calculation: (100 + 0.30) ÷ (1 − 0.029) = 103.30; processing fee = 103.30 − 100 = 3.30. The platform fee is deducted from the Mentor payout after the session.
3.2 Definitions of Booking Outcomes
- Completed: the session occurred (or the Mentor attended and the Mentee did not).
- Cancelled: a party cancelled before the session, governed by the timing tiers below.
- No-show: a party failed to attend a scheduled session.
3.3 Refund & Payout Scenarios
1. Booking Completed
- Refund to Mentee: $0
- Platform revenue: $10 (platform fee)
- Mentor payout: Mentor fee minus platform fee
2. Cancelled by Mentor / Mentor No-Show
- Refund to Mentee: full amount paid, including the processing fee ($103.30 in the example)
- Platform revenue: $0 (processing cost recovered from Mentor — see below)
- Mentor payout: $0
Processors generally do not return their fee on a refund. To keep this scenario revenue-neutral, the Mentee receives a full refund and the Mentor is liable for the processing cost the platform incurs (~$3.30 in the example). SIMO recovers this from the Mentor's payout balance and, if insufficient, from the Mentor's linked bank account, as authorized in the Mentor Agreement.
3A. Cancelled by Mentee — More Than 48 Hours Before Start
- Refund to Mentee: full Mentor fee ($100). Processing fee is non-refundable.
- Platform revenue: $0
- Mentor payout: $0
3B. Cancelled by Mentee — Between 24 and 48 Hours Before Start
- Refund to Mentee: 50% of Mentor fee
- Mentor payout: 50% of Mentor fee minus platform fee
- Platform revenue: 10% platform fee on the retained portion
3C. Cancelled by Mentee — Within 24 Hours of Start
- Refund to Mentee: $0
- Mentor payout: full Mentor fee minus platform fee
- Platform revenue: 10% platform fee
4. Mentee No-Show (Mentor Attended)
- Refund to Mentee: $0
- Platform revenue: $10 (platform fee)
- Mentor payout: full Mentor fee minus platform fee — treated as completed because the Mentor attended
5. Both Parties No-Show
- Refund to Mentee: Mentor fee only ($100). Processing fee is non-refundable.
- Platform revenue: $0
- Mentor payout: $0
3.4 General Refund Terms
- Processing fees (approx. 2.9% + $0.30) are non-refundable to the Mentee in all scenarios and are disclosed before purchase; by completing a booking the Mentee acknowledges this.
- Refund timing depends on the payment processor and may take several business days.
- Chargebacks filed without first contacting SIMO support may result in account suspension.
- SIMO may modify this Policy prospectively; the version in effect at the time of booking governs that booking.
